2014 Mac Mini – What That Mac Show Wants to See

If you have been reading the blog and listening to the podcast, you know I am in the market for a new Mac, and the Mac Mini is on the list.  Due to the 2 year old hardware, I have not pulled the trigger, even though my current MacBook Pro is just about 4 years old.

I could actually care less if Apple changed the form factor what-so-ever.  I think the current size and shape is just about perfect.  What I want to see changed is inside.  Here is what “i” want to see in the new Mac Mini:

Low End Mac Mini:

  • Dual Core “Haswell” i5
  • Normal hard disk
  • 8GB RAM
  • Thunderbolt 2 Ports (keep the USB3, HDMI, etc…)
  • Intel Iris Pro graphics

High End Mac Mini:

  • Quad Core “Hasewell” i5 (optional i7 of course)
  • SSD/Fusion drive
  • 8GB RAM
  • Thunderbolt 2 Porst (keep the USB3, HDMI, etc…)
  • NVIDIA GeForce of some type

I think the current pricing is pretty fair considering the form factor and the quality of the components, and of course…..All the great free software that Apple gives you.

There is only one more month until my birthday, so I am hoping Apple surprises me with a brand new Mac Mini as a present (of course I will buy it myself).  If not then it’s time to decide if I will pull the trigger on a loaded 27″ iMac or maybe even a low end Mac Pro.

Yeah I know I am all over the place with this decision. It’s not even the money, since a current i7 Mac Mini is probably more than enough to cover my needs. It’s all about the WANTS!! (^_^)
